Proverbs 31 Counterpart

I've tried to model my life after the Proverbs 31 woman; and there have been many times that I wished there was as counterpart passage that described the excellent husband.   But, as I thought about it, there are many passages that actually do give guidelines for characteristics of a godly man.  In fact, Proverbs was really written as guidelines for the young man.

However, what came to me today was that really good counterpart passages would be those in Timothy and Titus that describe the characteristics of an elder.   After having served on the elder selection committee, I realize that the characteristics that we look for in an elder should be the ones I look for in a husband.  The person who would be my future mate would be one that would be qualified to serve as an elder.  He would be respectable, above reproach, able to teach, just, devout, etc.

In thinking about the qualities of a leader, they are applicable:  spiritual, sacrificial, and authoritative.  This actually helped assure me that I need to continue to wait, for I have not yet met him.
