Tomorrow is Good Friday, the day in which we remember what Christ did on the cross for us. His suffering and death through crucifixion, because of His love for us, in order to become our Savior.
I am so unworthy of His sacrifice. And, I am guilty of the pain He suffered. I ask for His forgiveness and cleansing; that I may walk in a manner worthy of His Name.
I am also grateful for the gift of eternal life; and the privilege of being adopted into the family of God. May I shine as a light for Him, and live out His Will and Plan for my life.
It seems appropriate to reflect on one of my favorite hymns, O Sacred Head:
O sacred Head, now wounded,
with grief and shame weighed down,
now scornfully surrounded
with thorns, thine only crown:
how pale thou art with anguish,
with sore abuse and scorn!
How does that visage languish
which once was bright as morn!
What thou, my Lord, has suffered
was all for sinners' gain;
mine, mine was the transgression,
but thine the deadly pain.
Lo, here I fall, my Savior!
'Tis I deserve thy place;
look on me with thy favor,
vouchsafe to me thy grace.
What language shall I borrow
to thank thee, dearest friend,
for this thy dying sorrow,
thy pity without end?
O make me thine forever;
and should I fainting be,
Lord, let me never, never
outlive my love for thee.
